Crocizia
Crocizia winery is located on the Emilian hills at an altitude of 500 meters, not far from Parma, at the point where the hill becomes a mountain. A small reality of 5 hectares, of which only 3 hectares are planted with vines, embracing a rural paradise made of woods, fields, and nature. It is led by Marco Rizzardi who, together with Sara and Aurelio, in the early 2000s decided to recover an old farmhouse, a few steps from Langhirano, and plant the varieties of the Emilian tradition. Marco's belief is to enhance and safeguard the environment, allowing the grapes to mature in a healthy and genuine way. Thus, live and sincere labels are born, usually spontaneously refermented in the bottle, telling the most authentic soul of this area.
In a natural amphitheater wrapped in wooded spaces, made fertile by the Parma stream and refreshed by mountain air, the grapes grow and mature perfectly. The cultivated varieties range from indigenous ones, such as Malvasia di Candia, Barbera, and Lambrusco, to more international ones, such as Pinot Noir, all belonging to the great winemaking history of the Parmense hills. The vines are cared for with great sensitivity, respect, and love, trying to strengthen the intrinsic bond between land and plant. The soil, which has been left free to grow without human intervention for 50 years, has concentrated a high amount of organic matter, fossils, marls, and sediments. To preserve its integrity, Marco follows an organic approach and prohibits the use of any chemical products, tolerating only a wise use of copper and sulfur. In the winery, the process continues in the most natural way possible: no to filtration, stabilizers, clarifiers, and enzymes, yes, instead, to indigenous yeasts and spontaneous refermentations in the bottle. In fact, in most cases, the potential wines are bottled with a slight residual sugar that, during the spring season, with the rise in temperatures, allows the development of bubbles. The result is clear, straightforward wines that smell of nature.
The wines of Crocizia are characterized by being almost all lively and show a juicy, joyful, and immediate profile, equipped with a rich and flavorful foam. Their strength is the freshness, lively and tasty, which encourages a very smooth and compulsive drinking experience. The authentic and artisanal side is present in every label, without being pushed or extreme, and further enhances the quality of the liquids. The quality/price ratio is truly advantageous, to the point of suggesting them as the quintessential everyday wines. In short, Crocizia is certainly one of the most representative names of the Emilian hills and its products are a hymn to liveliness and freshness. Delightfully irresistible and fun.
