Vinmakarens viner
The Pinot Noir Rouge ‘Lune à Boire’ from the Alsatian winery Marc Kreydenweiss represents a dynamic and crisp expression of this noble Burgundy black grape variety. Within the municipality of Andlau, in an area called Piemont des Vosges, Antoine Kreydenweiss harvested in 2007 the oenological heritage of his father Marc, continuing the path of enhancing the terroir that the family has cultivated for 3 centuries. Lune à Boire, literally meaning ‘moon to drink’, is the name chosen by the winery for the line of wines that includes a sparkling wine, a white wine, a macerated white, and this red.
Marc Kreydenweiss ‘Lune à Boire’ Rouge Pinot Noir is made from the same-named grape variety in purity, with grapes coming from a small plot located between 200 and 300 meters above sea level, with vines aged between 5 and 30 years managed under certified organic practices. Following the harvest, the bunches are whole-cluster pressed and the alcoholic fermentation, carried out by indigenous yeasts only, involves approximately a week of maceration on the skins. The following maturation phase takes place in oak barrels for 12 months and the wine is finally bottled without undergoing filtration and without any addition of sulfites.
In appearance, the ‘Lune à Boire’ Rouge Pinot Noir by Marc Kreydenweiss reveals a pure ruby red color. The nose is described with hints of cherry, sour cherry, and berries, supported by spicy and pleasantly herbal sensations, while the taste development is fresh and smooth, with very fine tannins that accompany the fruity finish. A refreshing and accessible red wine, exemplary of the characteristics that Pinot Noir takes on in Alsace.
