Det bjuder på rika och komplexa noter av medelhavsväxtlighet, inlagd apelsin, rostad mandel, honung och havsbris. Munkänslan är frisk, omslutande och dynamisk, åtföljd av en behaglig tanninstruktur.
Pantelleria Island gives us Lustro, a white macerated wine made from Catarratto grapes from the small and very young winery Abbazia San Giorgio. The goal of Battista Belvisi and Beppe Fontana, partners who in 2016 created this reality of only 3.5 hectares, is to let the unique and precious terroir speak of one of the most beautiful islands in Italy and the world. The production method is organic, also integrated with biodynamic practices, while the intervention in the winery is minimal, aimed solely at accommodating and enhancing what this extraordinary territory can offer.
The Terre Siciliane IGT Lustro is produced from pure Catarratto grapes coming from a plot of only one and a half hectares characterized by alluvial soils of volcanic origin. No synthetic chemical substances are used in the vineyard, and the harvest is done manually with careful selection in the field. Once in the winery, destemming and crushing of the bunches occurs, followed by spontaneous alcoholic fermentation. The maceration on the skins lasts for about 20 days and the aging of 4 months takes place in steel silos. The wine does not undergo no corrections or filtrations and rests for at least 60 days in the bottle before release.
In the glass, the Catarratto Lustro from Abbazia San Giorgio expresses an intense golden yellow color tending towards orange, slightly cloudy. The aromas are those of Pantelleria with notes of apricot, dried fruit, orange peel, and aromatic herbs supported by marine breezes. The sun-kissed taste is accompanied by straightforwardness and juicy flavor, as well as delicate tannic sensations and incisive salinity. A precious wine with a precise identity, capable of evoking the scents and flavors of the island and therefore to be tried with the local pantesco couscous.
